Right now, the novel is in its beginning stages. The Hybrid's Rising, the first installment, has recently been started. Synopsis:
The Dragon Rider Chronicles is a fiction series of the genre futuristic fantasy. It centers around Theo Bowser, a teenager in high school who discovers that his bloodline is of the two greatest dragonriding families in history - the Isemans and the Klingensmiths. These families have saved planet Actias of the Ekrian System - a planet inhabited by dragons, anthropomorphic dragons, elves, dwarves, and gnomes - many times over in the past two eras.
The Isemans and Klingensmiths originated on Earth, as they are a family of humans. A time came, though, when they were chosen as dragonriders. One human from each family was transported to Actias by teleportational means long ago by Luminarius, the dragon god of light - as he believed these two humans were of pure enough blood to help him fight against Heolstor, the dragon god of darkness. He gifted the both of them by declaring that the next born child in each of their bloodlines would have a draconian chromsome - making the total chromsome count twenty four, instead of the normal twenty three. This would give the gene possessors a few draconian traits. Luminarius dubbed the families as dragonriders. Every other firstborn child in these families' next generations would receive that same chromosome, and become a dragonrider. The firstborn would always be a male, as to carry on the gene only to Isemans or Klingensmiths - depending on which family he belonged to. Before Theo came to be, these families were entirely unrelated to each other, often quarreling over who was the better bloodline. But as a prophecy written long ago by Luminarius says - a human of both Iseman and Klingensmith blood will be born to save the planet from the tyrranical hands of Heolstor. As the time he would be born drew near, the families began to settle their differences for the better of the planet. The standard of the firstborn always being male changed for the Isemans, and a female was born by the name of Shirley. She wed a Klingensmith - William - and they had a daughter who would be the carrier of the gene to the hybrid. It mattered not whom their daughter chose to be her husband, because the gene was prophecised to be carried from her to her child regardless of the other's bloodline. She married a Mr. Danny Bowser, and they conceived and gave birth to the hybrid - Theo Bowser.
Actias is by far one of the most technologically advanced planets known in the universe. It has technology beyond anything Earth has yet yielded - for example the standard handgun that is permitted in public uses a deadly laser instead of traditional bullets.
